Why you should not drink water that is only water
People often imagine that the most effective purification methods, such as Reversed Osmosis or Destillation, are the same as the most optimal methods for producing healthy drinking water. It is correct that these methods capture most pollutants. Unfortunately they also completely remove all healthy ingredients from the drinking water, such as naturally occuring minerals, salts and trace elements which depletes the body of substances which are essential for our health.
Researchers and scientists like for example a team at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, confirm that minerals should be a part of all drinking water because that is the most effective way for our human bodies' uptake of minerals.
In the book ”Drinking Water Minerals and Mineral Balance ” produced by the above mentioned researchers, it is stated that more than 20 minerals are absolutely vital for a protection against different diseases and should be part of the water we consume.
Sometimes a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter is used to measure the quality of drinking water. But this instrument reacts mainly to minerals and salts in the water because that is what increase the electrical conductivity and gives a high reading. A destilled water on the other hand register near to zero and is in fact a ”dead” water without any nutrient value whatsoever. The frequent intake of a destilled water also has a tendency to leach minerals from the body because of the ”vacuum” in the water.
The higher mineral content in the water, the higher value on the meter, while pollutants like micro plastics, viruses, parasites, PFAS-substances, trace pharmaceuticals, endotoxins do not register at all. A mineral rich and exclusive bottled water can register up to 1500 ppm (parts per million) and this is considered a very high and healthy level in this case. That means that a TDS-meter is worthless when it comes to measuring and deciding what is an optimal and healthy water.
The most optimal purification method for drinking water
Our company, PlanetsOwn, is researching and developing sustainable solutions for water treatment. Our goal is to purify water without chemicals, in a biologically sustainable way based on natural processes and thus promoting biological diversity.
By using the latest and most optimal technology available, our two main filter techniques provide high quality drinking water that still maintains naturally occuring healthy minerals, salts and trace elements but removes bacteria, viruses, parasites, endotoxins, trace pharmaceuticals, micro plastics, graphene oxide, PFAS-substances etc. to a very high degree.
Many tests have been performed with these two filter solutions and are described in connection with the product presentation below.
Microspiral filters
The filter material was originally developed to purify water contaminated with radioactive waste products such as Cesium-137 (removed at a rate of 99,7%).
It also proved highly efficient against other dangerous substances, such as chlorine, PFAS, heavy metals, pesticides, bacteria, parasites and micro plastics. The unique material attracts and captures nearly everything save the water, minerals and trace elements. Several practical products for various applications have now been developed.
Optimal purification of water with Microspiralfilter
One special advantage of the system is that contaminants and pollutants are removed from the water without adding anything to it, as is done when purifying water using chlorination or flocculation. The result is water that is extremely pure but still retains most of the naturally occurring minerals and trace substances that the body needs. The other advantage is a safety feature built into the design that ensures no captured particles can dislodge from the filter at sudden pressure spikes in the water pipes. This can be an issue in many other filtration systems.
To be able to remove the dangerous substances from the water but retain the healthy characteristics we work with combination filters which synergistically achieves that goal.
How does the filtration system work?
The filter cartridges are made from a unique microspiral material that combines six different purification techniques:
-
Electro-adsorption is a method for eliminating viruses by taking advantage of the electric charges of the virus proteins to trap them in a filter material with the opposite charges. (Tested by Pasteur Institute on Legionella, Salmonella, Polio, Hepatitis, and Rotavirus strains.)
-
Mechanical purification is the most fundamental form of filtration, where the pores in the filter capture and retain any particle larger than 0.05 μm (i.e. bacteria, parasites, microplastics).
-
Sorption, which is the physical and chemical attachment of particles to a surface, ensures that chloride and the highly toxic chloride compounds are removed from the water to 100%, along with removal of biocides and pesticides (each filter cartridge is honeycombed with pores to create a total uptake area the size of a soccer field).
-
Ion exchange, a method by which electric charges in the filter material binds harmful ions such as heavy metals from the water. In combination with the other techniques, radioactive particles such as uranium, cesium-137, and strontium-90 are also captured by the filter.
-
Softening targets hard water and captures calcite, the mineral responsible for kidney stones as well as limescale deposits in pipes and cooking pots, while allowing its less problematic aragonite form to pass through the pores. Aragonite does not stick to surfaces the way calcite does, and has a higher rate of bioavailability. (Some studies on rats suggest aragonite might even help dissolve kidney stones.)
-
Bacteriostatic technology in the form of pure silver integrated into the filter matrix, which prevents the growth of bacteria and viruses on the filter. (The silver is integrated into the filter material on a microscopic level and cannot dislodge in the water.)

Virus trapped by spiral structure with ca 40.000 charged pores. The filter has an immense inner surface 2 structure of up to 500 m /g.

The material is honeycombed with funnel-shaped microspirals that effectively trap all pollutants.

Ahlstrom + carbon block
Ahlstrom Disruptor™ filter media is one of the most efficient technologies we work with and we have constructed a special combination filter with Ahlstrom and a carbon block that fits into our filter houses. The Ahlstrom filter media is an electro-adsorptive technology, not a common mechanical filter media. It can be characterised as a hybrid filter media that works through a synergistic effect of naturally electroadhesive fibres and mechanical filtration with a pore size of around 1,5 micron. The media is created with a natural mineral called boehmite. It uses an electrical charge to remove extremely small pathogens, like E.coli and Legionella, while ensuring that the healthy minerals that are good for us remain in the water. As a general rule all particles tend to become more electronegative as the particle size diminishes. Therefore filtration efficiency of the Ahlstrom electro-positive surface improves against ever finer particles. This is why the media efficiently removes contaminants below 0,5 micron down to a few nanometers, more than 5000 times smaller than a hair!
Performance
The Ahlstrom media removes a wider range of pathogens and contaminants than any other technology we have encountered (except Microspiral filters, which have a similar function). It can easily be combined with other filter techniques and we, as mentioned before, combine it with a carbon block for a synergistic boost. This super effective filter combination removes bacteria, viruses, parasites, endotoxins, trace pharmaceuticals, micro plastics, graphene oxide, PFAS-substances etc. to a very high degree. As mentioned, at the same time the filter ensures that that the minerals, salts and trace minerals, which are so essential for our health, remains in the drinking water. Many tests have been performed with this filter media and a couple of examples are shown below.
The first example is a test where the Ahlstrom membrane itself (without carbon block) were tested in a water contaminated with PFAS-variants:

The second test with the Ahlstrom technique shows its' unique ability to neutralize choliform bacteria and E.coli, two of the most common problems with micro organisms in drinking water:
